WTF is Wii??

Wii? Is that like baby World War II, but without the world. Just 'war ii'.
Wii? Everyone is complaining that it sounds like 'we' but my concern is that it sounds like 'wee'. You know. Urine. Whoo! Definitely something I want to associate doing in my living room with lots of my friends gathered 'round.
And the conversations?
'Hey, did you buy a Wii?'
'Let's go play your Wii.' (Or worse, 'Let's go play with your Wii'.)
'Wanna come over and play on the Wii?'

Childish, maybe, but hey I didn't name it. WTF was wrong with Revolution? It was a lovely name. I'm surprised nobody nabbed it before now. Who wouldn't want to claim in name that their system is the revolutionary one?

Sadly, I still really want one. Or at least want to try one. That controller is just too cool if it works as advertised. Oh well. It's coming soon, and I'll be in line to try it out. SPORE and Wii. What a combo, eh?

All I can say in the end is that between the phrases, 'Let's play on the Wii' and 'Let's play on the xbox360' uh..... xbox wins.

**Edit - If you don't have a clue what I'm talking about, you can find out some info on this site (click links at top right to findout more) or go to the Official Wii/Ex-Revolution Site, though the video they play on that just makes me want to slap those little bouncy i's.

On a completely unrealted note, this guy's last name:

'Reggie Fils-Aime'
Literally means 'son love' in French. And by 'son' I mean 'young boy you have fathered'. Those abusive fathers.

Spore Spore Spore!

Ah! May is almost here! It's crazy. May is almost here and I've got so much stuff to finish before school is out. Sigh. Urgh. Don't even want to think about it. Probably should though.

Anyway, I'm excited. I'm excited because E3 is coming soon. Emma, you ask, since when did you even pay attention to E3? Well, since I heard about SPORE, became obsessed, and can't wait to find out more. E3 is when they are going to tell me more! Well, not me personally, but people that will inform me through their articles and reviews, etc.

SPORE? You ask? WTF? Well, I'll show you. I'm not even going to try to explain because I'd butcher it. The offical SPORE website is www.spore.com, though there's not much info there, unfortunately. To find out more, the best thing to do is to watch this video on Google Videos. Yes, it's a little long, but it's worth it. At least I think so. Just ignore how the guy talking kindof reminds you of Kermit.
Don't have time? Well, search spore in Google and read the Wikipedia or other articles about it. Really, though, the video is best.

So yes, I'm excited about that. I don't really have anything else to write about, except that I'm about to get started writing some paper on healthcare reform for biomedical ethics, and that healthcare reform is boring and stupid. I like abortion and stem cells better.

In other news, I'm now your resident expert on adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) after doing a big ol' project on it for biology. So, you know, if you need to find out something about ALD... I'm your girl. Also, on that same note, you should all the movie Lorenzo's Oil, which is about ALD, and is very very good. Also the original Italian Job is a great movie you should see, but that's completely unrelated.

I guess I should maybe mention that I'm actually considering transferring away from SU and going elsewhere. Probably somewhere in the metroplex: TCU, UTA, or UTD (Dallas). Lots of things factor in, including price. I'm also hoping to go somewhere where I can maybe associate with the people more, or at least find some that are more my type.
Anyway, yea.

Sooooo... Everyone go make people release SPORE.

Events Events

Well, events, events. Lots of things, won't go into details. Sumation ends up being that Lauren found a nice apartment for herself, so she is happily living there now, and I rattle around my 3-bedroom condo alone. Sad, yes, but you know, seperating insane people is looked upon as a good thing in most countries. So we'll look at it as a benefit! The whole thing was an adventure, which can be best summed up in this short snippet from a conversation:

Loweaugen: i'm going to learn to cook now
Loweaugen: it should be interesting
Loweaugen: to say the lease
Loweaugen: t
Loweaugen: ahhh! ive got leases on the brain!

(As a disclaimer to myself, I'm actually not a bad cook. Though my experience in cooking is limited, I've never screwed anything I have cooked up that badly. Well, really at all. Comes from all those ochem and bio labs I suppose. Can't make mistakes in those. And yes, I do treat cooking like a lab, and I'm that anal rententive about measurements, but you know what? I like it.)

Anyway, since I rattle too much in my condo, I'm bringing Svara down next Monday, and as celebration, I have decreed that you all get Friday off for this wonderful occasion! If your institution does not allow you to take Friday off for the Celebration of Svara, then they are considered rebellious factions, and will be smote once my rise to World Dictator (or European Dictator) is complete.

Remind me because I have a story to tell you all about my sisters Alice and Heather, and how much they rock.

Advice Needed!!!

Story:
I try and install this GeForce 4 graphics card. When I put it in, the computer just beeps a lot and doesnt do anything else, so I decide the card is shot and take it out.
Then I put in an ATI Rage 128MB card, and start up, and it says something about boot error. I don't like the way things are looking, so I put the original GeForce2 card back in.
I start up, and it flashes the first screen really quickly, then goes to:
Novell NetWare Ready Firmware v 1.00 (940810)
(c)Copyright 1991-1994 Novell Inc. All Rights Reserved
VIA PCI 10/100Mb Fast Ethernet Adapter v 3.33 (11/09/2001)

Analysing network Media type, this will take several
seconds...
OK

RPL-ROM-ADR: 0007 95A4 E5E0
RPL-ROM-IRQ: 5
RPL-ROM-PIO: DC00

RPL-ROM-FFC:
At this point it then counts up to 200 very slowly and says 'boot error, check connections' or something similar to that... and also insert disk into drive A. Something along those lines.
I look online, and the main advice, apart from reformatting, is to check BIOS boot order, but I cant get into the BIOS because the Novell screen comes up so fast.
So I do that a couple of times, then I turn the comp off and check all the internal connections, pushing everything in very hard.
I discover my main HDD IDE cable is a little loose, so I push it in and think 'Yey, fixed!'

Now it starts up and nothing happens. The fans run, the drives spin, but there's no startup beeps, and nothing on the monitor. The yellow light on the monitor doesn't even turn to green.

I'm starting to get very worried, because I don't even know where to start.
Advice?? Please??

UPDATE:
I did get the computer to go from doing nothing to showing the Novell screen again, and got into a boot menu, though not the BIOS menu. It showed:

Select First Boot Device

Floppy : 1.44 MB 3 1/2
CDROM : CD-RW IDE5224
: NETWORK
NETWORK

Showing neither of my HDDs. I have two, both are set by jumpers to be master/slave and are also in the correct positions on an 80wire IDE cable for master/slave.
I managed through the Novell screen (by pressing ALT-TAB when it first comes up) to force it to try and boot from a local disk, but it fails after it tries.

However, now it's back to doing nothing, except now it also makes very loud beeps through the speakers (not the mobo). My mobo is 4 years old and an VIA VT8235, which I do know is not looked kindly upon by most people.

Tried resetting the BIOS via mobo jumper but to no noticeable effect.

Beeps are like this:
3 same length, a little over a second long, then a gap of about 10 seconds. Repeats the same over and over. (Listened for 6 cycles of beeps.)
